Healing & reintegrating is an insight job…
Inside your body, your mind & your psyche.
An Insight Job is a Mental Health services practice established with the aim of holding space for individuals – across all developmental stages- to become more self-aware, to grow, to heal and to thrive while striving to become their Real Self.
We believe that healing and reintegrating is an Insight and inside job! (inside your mind, inside your body, inside your emotions, inside your community.)
I am a Clinical Psychologist registered under the HPCSA board. My passion and curiosity for human behaviour began during my early adulthood years when I was actively involved in the youth department at church. This involved drawing self-development and reflective plans for the year and for the youth camp. This laid a foundation for my formal studies in Psychology where I implemented the same skills and expanded my knowledge at a tertiary academic institution leading the Student Development & Counselling Department under registered Psychologists, Psychometrists and a Social Worker. I further acquired my Registered Counsellor qualification and provided psychological assessments, containment and psychoeducational projects for students on campus for two years; I later continued my studies into the Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree where I have since worked in the Department of Health across psychiatric and medical hospitals with adolescents, adults and geriatrics for mental and medical illnesses for 7 years.
I am currently in the Department of Health working vastly with inpatients who present with chronic and terminal illnesses. I strive to create a safe and non-judgemental environment for individuals to process their physical health issues, life threatening experiences, thoughts and emotions; with the aim to foster self-actualization. My interest for working with students extends to lecturing and supervising of students in their Psychology career
Therapy requires one to be so vulnerable to self and to the other (therapist); I believe in the importance of tailoring therapy to the needs of each individual and to appropriately meet this vulnerability with the best suiting approach. Thus my theoretical approach to therapy is eclectic, with a background of Person Centred approach, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).
